This popular strolling program is for folks who like to stroll and enjoy the views. Some bring their canes, others their walkers, and yet others are just a little slower than they were 5 or 10 years ago.
The Esplanade at Willows Beach offers an even, paved surface on which to walk and benches along the way to sit and catch one’s breath.
After a stroll, participants gather at the Kiwanis Tea Room for refreshments, great conversation and laughter.
All strollers are most welcome to come and join us. Rides are arranged for those who are no longer driving. We have a wonderful group of volunteer drivers to help folks get to our meeting point at the parking lot at Willows Beach (off Beach Drive), stroll with you and get you safely back home by noon.
If you would like to stroll and/or drive, please contact Ann Maffey (see below) or Carol Halvorson at (250) 386-6670.

This program is based on the book Stories United – Harvesting Elders’ Wisdom. It is an opportunity to sharpen your memories, write and share your life story, make new friends and have fun, find a deeper sense of meaning in your life, and leave a legacy for your family.
This program is a condensed, two day version for those who have been unable to attend the eight week sessions previously offered. Each day includes input, fun writing exercises focused on the chapters of the book, and the sharing of your story in small groups. Led by Terry Dance-Bennink, editor of Stories United and Edeana Malcolm, writer.
The fee is $20 plus purchase of Stories United. For more information about the book, visit the website below. Registation is limited to 20 people. Please contact the church office to register.

For many years, Metropolitan United Church served as the home of the Metropolitan Basketball Teams. Newly renamed the First†Metropolitan United Basketball Teams, upwards of 12 to 17 teams practice weekly in the Fellowship Hall and play at a local high school. This service is an “outreach” to the community, giving neighbourhood youth an outlet of healthy activity for six to seven months of the year.
