First†Metropolitan United Church continues to serve over 240 roast beef dinners and another 85 to 100 takeout meals for those who can’t get a seat each month from September to June. 2013 marks the 25th anniversary of this outreach program. All inner city people are welcome to our Fellowship Hall on the Friday before social assistance cheques come out.
Dinners consist of roast potatoes, roast beef, gravy and vegetables, followed by apple pie and ice cream for dessert. Each meal costs approximately $975 per dinner or approximately $3.00 per meal – an excellent price for such a dinner. All the money needed to purchase food comes from the generous donations of our congregation and friends of First†Met. Please consider helping us with this very worthwhile cause in any way you can. We are still short of the $9,000 to run this program for next season, so donations are urgently needed.
Volunteers are always needed to help with morning food preparation and evening service. If you wish to volunteer for this rewarding ministry, please contact:
