Women are invited to join in this spiritual sharing and growth group. This year, we are exploring The Heart of Christianity: Rediscovering a Life of Faith by Marcus Borg. The book may be purchased at Koinonia Books. Marcus Borg explores what it is to be Christian today, a question that he says arises in each period of Christian history. He argues that we are living in a time of change, in which a new paradigm of Christianity is emerging, one in which sees the Bible as historical, metaphorical and sacramental rather than the literal word of God, and one in which Faith may not necessarily mean holding a certain set of beliefs or statements to be true, but rather as a matter of the heart in which we trust in God, act faithfully in our relationship with God, and see reality as life-giving and nourishing.
Marcus Borg is Hundere Distinguished Professor or Religion and Culture at Oregon State University, author of many best-selling books including Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time, Reading the Bible Again for the First Time, The God We Never Knew, The Heart of Christianity and most recently, Speaking Christian. He has been a frequent presenter at Epiphany Explorations, most recently in 2012.
Each month, we’ll engage in prayer, song, discussion, and other spiritual practices. Please register in advance online below.
